The Marina

Regulations

The following rules are an extract of the Marina Portolabieno regulations. They are mandatory and binding, and must be scrupulously observed by all marina visitors and berth users of any kind.

For anything not covered by these regulations, all applicable statutory provisions apply.

Internal structure

The Cooperative manages the marina and all related activities and services. The running of Marina PortoLabieno is entrusted to the marina staff, responsible for carrying out harbour services and related ancillary activities.

Berth assignment and identification

Only requests for boats fitted with the mandatory identification mark required by Law No. 203/2011 are considered for the assignment of transit berths.

Users must declare the exact dimensions of their boat, referring to its actual overall size, including any projections such as bowsprits, boarding platforms, pulpits, fins, stern-mounted tenders on davits and any other protrusion.

The marina's berths can accommodate boats and craft of the following dimensions:

Berth sizes
CategoryWater spaceMaximum size
A7.00 x 3.107.00 x 2.60
B8.00 x 3.308.00 x 2.80
C10.00 x 3.9010.00 x 3.40
D14.00 x 4.5014.00 x 4.00

Only one boat or craft may be moored at each berth. Should a user fail to declare the actual dimensions, or moor a boat or craft larger than those allowed for its category, the Cooperative will apply the penalties provided for, given the serious inconvenience this can cause.

The length of stay is calculated in days of presence, i.e. in 24-hour periods from noon to noon. Part-days are counted as full days.

Berth availability

Users have full use of their reserved berth, which the Cooperative undertakes to keep free. Berths and the names of the corresponding users are recorded in a dedicated, regularly updated register kept by the Marina PortoLabieno staff.

Manoeuvring in the marina

When manoeuvring within the marina basin, users must comply with these regulations and with any instructions, including verbal ones, given by management or authorised staff.

Sailing is forbidden except in cases of force majeure; manoeuvres by motor vessels and windsurfing are also forbidden.

The maximum speed when entering the marina is 3 knots.

Safety requirements

Moored boats must be in a technically and administratively seaworthy condition and therefore compliant with current legal provisions on safety of navigation and mooring. Management may set specific safety rules and, while declining all liability, may carry out inspections and surveys in order to help prevent damage and fire. Boats and craft not compliant with safety requirements may be removed from the concession area at the user's expense.

Use of anchors

The use of anchors within the marina basin is strictly forbidden. Any breach will be punished with the penalties provided for by these regulations.

Mooring

Boats and craft must be moored safely and in accordance with good seamanship practice. Mooring lines are provided by the user, must be of adequate size and suitably protected to prevent damage or wear to the pontoons. The user is solely responsible and liable for any damage of any kind caused by incorrect mooring.

Insurance

All boats and craft using the berths must carry third-party liability insurance. The policy must include a waiver of the insurer's right of subrogation against the Cooperative. Through the marina staff, the Cooperative may require the removal of boats and craft not compliant with insurance cover requirements. No compensation will be paid to users in the event of damage to or loss of the facilities. The Cooperative declines all liability for accidents of any kind occurring during the use of the marina facilities.

Services

Subject to need, availability and requests, the Cooperative provides users with the following services: restrooms and showers, security service, waste collection, lighting, and supply of electricity and water. For washing and cleaning boats, management provides electric pumps for pumping lake water on request. The use of drinking water for these activities is not permitted.

Pollution and disturbance

The use of generators, engine testing or other disturbing noise is not permitted before 9:00 am and after 8:00 pm.

Any work causing inconvenience or disturbance to users must be expressly authorised by the marina staff.

Leaving rubbish outside the designated recycling containers is not permitted.

The overboard discharge of polluting or foul-smelling liquid or solid materials, such as sanitary system discharge or tank cleaning, is strictly forbidden.

Washing dishes on the pontoons is not permitted (a dedicated area with a sink and running water is available for this purpose).

Fishing and swimming are also forbidden within the marina.

Animals are allowed only for the time needed to board or disembark and must not disturb users or staff.

Access and movement within the marina

Access to the marina area by any vehicle, lifting equipment, work vehicle or transport vehicle is forbidden unless expressly authorised by the Cooperative.

Storing any material on the pontoons or quays is forbidden.

Commercial or professional activities

Underwater work, repairs, maintenance, boat hauling, the sale of products or goods of any kind, and any commercial, professional or advertising activity are forbidden without the relevant authorisation.

Fire prevention

  • Smoking is forbidden in the fuelling area.
  • In the event of an accidental spill of hydrocarbons, the user must notify the marina staff and clean the affected surfaces at their own expense.
  • Engine compartments or rooms with gas cylinders must be adequately ventilated before starting the engine.
  • Electrical systems must be in perfect insulating condition.
  • Keeping dangerous or explosive substances on board is not permitted.
  • Fire extinguishers must be present in the quantity required by current regulations and in full working order.
  • In the event of fire, the most suitable means of extinguishing it must be used immediately, and the boat or craft must be isolated without delay.
  • The use of open flames (barbecues and similar) on finger pontoons, quays and piers is strictly forbidden.

Surveillance

The surveillance service is carried out by staff appointed by the Cooperative. Surveillance staff are authorised to enforce these regulations and to forward reports of infringements to the Cooperative, which will subsequently forward them to the competent authorities.

Management, the appointed staff and the Cooperative are in any case not liable for any theft or loss of users' property or money, or that of anyone stopping over or passing through the marina area.

Transit berths

Only users who have booked in advance and have been accepted are authorised to use transit berths. All users must comply with these regulations and pay the rates set by the Cooperative.

Any boat or craft entering the waters under concession without an assigned berth must report to the marina staff and may only stay if authorised.

Infringements and penalties

Breaches of these regulations carry penalties ranging from €80.00 to €250.00. For serious breaches, the Cooperative will arrange for removal.

The Cooperative reserves the right to refuse mooring to boats, crews or guests who have behaved improperly.
